The vision – sketches for the Manifesto

Birds of passage

For those of you illustration nerds: a detailed, technical series of pics. I stick to the brighter version in the end, but I'm not sure about the picture yet. I might have to redraw it.

Pictures in book?

Up-to-date

I had the first meeting with my tutor today! We had a good talk, and she gave me new, fresh perspectives on my texts. I expected her to critizise me rather hard – but all and all, she was very positive.

I've been sketching the Manifesto-poster, but just mentally, so far. I see a building. It has to be a house of some kind. I'm planning to work more on it in two weeks.

I'm reading a super interesting book. Different working methods of lyricists are examined, and somehow it suits me and my work rather fine.

I'm also re-writing a chat session I had with a friend some months ago. We were discussing different aspects of illustration, self-confidence in work and the importance of having a pleasurable entrance to the work itself. I think it could be a good passage in the book.

Tutor

I've been quite convinced that I can't have an illustrator tutoring me during my MA project. Today I changed my mind. I called Joanna Rubin Dranger. She said »okay«. Yes!

New Writing

During my last weeks of writing, I've gone through a very improductive period. And I haven't felt like discussing it here at all. To be brief: I am continuing on the Draughtsman's Guide Book, and the Manifesto. But perhaps in an unexpected way.

Oh! Wonderwall asked me if I'd like to collaborate with them! They print and sell posters of illustrators, photographers and designers. I really think it's a splendid idea of spreading images. And if everything turns out well, hopefully they'll use some of my illustrations. Later on, I'll collect some work suggestions for them. I still think the home-maker is a good picture. So now I'll try to sell her again. Wouldn't she be lovely to have framed in the kitchen? I cross my fingers.

New Swedish Standards

This is fun. I've made a formulation standard. Feel free to copy and paste.

William Kentridge @ Moderna Museet

I've got to go there, i haven't seen his work live, ever. I certainly hope that the museum guards stay off my back this time.

My MA project is crawling forward. I am scared to lose control of it, but I guess that's the only solution that I have right now. To let go of it, and trust my intuition when it tells me that I've got to loosen-up.
